Welcome

At Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelt’s Museum we welcome you to a magical art experience and a comprehensive museum programme of concerts, lectures, guided tours, activities for children, temporary exhibitions of CoBrA related artworks, and many other cultural activities.

With its moat and its ceramic tiles peopled by magical beings and freely floating fantasy figures in red, green, and blue, the original, round museum building offers tribute to Carl-Henning Pedersen’s expressive and poetic imagery, which is familiar to and loved by a wide audience. The architectural design of the museum buildings was carried out by the internally renowned firm C.F. Møller Architects. Together, the buildings constitute a fairytale-like feature in the landscape of Birk, ideal for embracing and presenting the world of art.

The 12 meter tall obelisk, featuring Carl-Henning Pedersen's own decorations, stands as a landmark of the area and its variety of cultural experiences: Heart - Herning Museum of Contemporary Art, the Sculpture Park, the Geometrical Gardens, Elia, and many other sights of cultural and archiectural interest. The location of the Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelt Museum is ideal for combining a visit to the museum with a tour of the unique area.
