In modern abstract painting, as practised by Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt, the universe, the planets, even the mysteries of heaven play a special role. This interest in the cosmos reflects the artists' vision that a new, colourful and abstract way of painting might help create the framework for a new and free society. The exhibition is the museum's contribution to a project, organized by the Funen and Fuglsang Art Museums, where several parallel exhibitions at Danish museums focus on Danish artists fascinated by the cosmos.
