In the Fall of 2017, A Fabulous Encounter unfolds between H.R.H. Prince Henrik’s life-like bronze sculptures and the wondrous paintings of Carl-Henning Pedersen.
Two fantastic worlds will engage in an open dialogue in the exhibition as it explores similarities between the respective backgrounds and artistic approaches of the two artists: Their passion for art and African masks. Their poetry, which is formulated in a fertile interaction with sculptures and paintings. Their common perception of art as an existential expression of our deepest instincts, shaping reality through the medium of the individual’s personality. And their penchant for unrestrained art that challenges tradition and established notions.
First and foremost, A Fabulous Encounter is a celebration of two visionary artists – the Prince Consort and the dairy delivery boy who painted his way to international recognition – whose artistic output is characterised by spontaneity, imagination and the sheer joy of creation as the dominating principles.
The exhibition focuses on H.R.H. Prince Henrik and Carl-Henning Pedersen’s later works. More than 60 pieces are shown along with samples from the poetry of both artists.
The international exhibition A Fabulous Encounter will be shown in Centro Cultura Andratx, Mallorca, Spain, and in France, before the opening at Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelt’s Museum in 2017. We are thrilled to be able to present to you this fabulous encounter between two great artists.
