The artistic and personal relationship of Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelts represents a rare example of two artists who simultaneously inspired each other while developing their uniquely personal style. They met at the International High School in Elsinore in 1933/34 and remained together - as painters and partners - until the untimely death of Else Alfelt in 1974.

The Spring exhibition of pieces from the museum's own collection examines differences and similarities in the artistic productions of Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt. Though the two artists were characterised by different approaches to their craft, the exhibition A Dialogue between Alfelt and Pedersen pinpoints several parallels between them.

With some paintings and watercolours stemming from the 1930s and 1940s it requires close scrutiny to determine which of the two artists is the author of the piece. The compositions of both artists were heavily inspired by Surrealist automatism, and they frequently made use of similar colour palettes, as can be seen in the many examples of the exhibition.
